Using the humble cardboard matchbox as a starting point, we pesky students were asked to produce a single object which demonstrated something about ourselves. Encouraged to think creatively about colour, pattern, surface, materials, techniques and construction methods, text and image and format -off we went.
A toatally new concept to me - the 'matchbox art'- and yet not new to the art world in general at all it would seem- it is, in fact, a curiously popular vehicle for creation of a diverse and fascinating nature.
